Try it Tuesday

Monkey Bread

On the quest to try new things, we are implanting "Try it Tuesday" in our house. I thought that I would start off slow, so that just saying that it was Tuesday, the kids don't start heading for the hills...

Mason was given a small piece of dough to help out

This is the results!

MONKEY BREAD
4 cans refrigerator biscuits (about 40)
1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup pecans, raisins and/or coconut, if desired

Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Pour sugar and cinnamon into a plastic bag and mix.
Add biscuit pieces, several at a time; shake to coat well.
Place pieces in a buttered tube or Bundt pan until all are used.
Sprinkle layers with nuts, raisins or coconut.
Bring brown sugar and butter to a boil in saucepan. Cool 10 minutes, then pour over top of biscuits.
Bake at 350F for 45 minutes. Allow to cool 15 minutes before removing from pan. Turn upside down to serve.
Results:**** YUM!

For the past few months, I have been looking for ways to motivate myself as a stay at home mom. In many ways I feel that I am pulled in many other directions. I took some time out last week end to see the movie Julie & Julia. I think that it has encouraged me to look at life as more of a challenge. In some ways I have felt like I might be lacking in some domestic skills, so what better to motivate yourself, than to try something new.

So here it …

The mission:

The quest to becoming the ultimate domestic diva. The challenges include: learning to cook health meals that 3 picky kids will eat, basic sewing, decorating, and organizations skills, and entertainment coordinator. This is a big task, but I am up for the challenge…
The obstacle…
Time: with 4 busy schedules, softball, dance football games. How to organize myself enough to find balance and inner peace, without permanently damaging everyone in the process.
Budget: Darn you Dave Ramsy… we have a love/ hate relationship.

The unwilling participants…

Mason age 2.7
likes to play out side and tormit dogs.
learning to potty train. Thinks that McDonald's is "his friends house"

McKenzie age:8
loves art, cheerleading and softball. Hates cleaning her room.

Morgan age:15
Busy school and social calander.

Darling Hubby age: old enough
Trying to find his own balance between work and family.
Loves all sports.

Wish me luck!

Amy

Garden Plans

I have been thinking about planting a Fall Garden. For the past two summers the kids have planted a garden in the early spring, but with this Texas Heat, and lack of rain, it hasn’t done very well.

We are predicted to have a “wet fall” here in San Antonio, so I thought that maybe I would try to plant a fall garden. Does anyone have any suggestions what to plant? I have thought of heirloom tomatoes, but wasn’t sure if that was just for the summer. I am a woman on a mission…

As a stay at home mom, I occasionally feel overwhelmed, and restless.
One day I was sitting in church and someone was talking about a friend of theirs had rededicated themselves and was trying out new life groups in church, so I started thinking... Maybe that is what I need to do, rededicate myself to being a Stay at Home Mom.

This is where you come in: Tell me how you stay motivated at home. Decorating, cooking, cleaning out, or even a girls night out. Tell me what has worked for you in a post, and add your name to the Mr. Linky.

I love the fall

I love the fall and all it brings with it. It is always a great relief from this Texas heat, when the cool air arrives and and the leaves start their glorious show before they fall to the ground.

I love the the splashes of colors from the mums and pumpkins that greet you at the front doors

& most of all, I love the smell of Cinnamon as it fill the room.

First Week of School

Within one week, the kids have started school, we had had two Pep Rallies, and one football game. I was so ready for the weekend!

Morgan getting ready for the 1st day!
Only three more first day of school pictures to go!
Kenzie is ready to go "to school and get some knowledge!"

Year after year, I seem to get a little more organized before school starts. This year, I thought that I would just buy a little more school supplies. It never fails, the first day, the teacher always sends home a list of extras that they would like for them to have. Extra folders, or spirals are normally on the list. Then you have to fight with all of the other parents scrambling for the leftover school supplies. This year I thought I would be ahead of the game...
Would you believe it, no list. Two of Morgan's teachers just put together packets of items for the children to purchase directly from them. Never fails!
Cheers! Amy

Where have you been?

Someone asked me today, "Where have you been?"

Well, I have been here, hangin' out in the Trailer. If you recall, I wrote a post about wanting to buy an old travel trailer, and fix it up. Well, a few months ago, we bought one, and "trailer trash" was born.

3Cheers4Mom is going to continue to be my "mommy site", but is going to over go a few changes, so stay tuned!
